On Friday, February 22, the Lincoln Memorial Library hosted the kickoff event for the new “Reading to the Animals” program presented by Silent Sidekicks, a Nonprofit Organization that provides Animal Assisted Therapy and Activities. The reading program is designed to encourage children to read to an animal in a nonjudgmental and fun atmosphere. The event was facilitated by Danielle Ireland, Executive Director and Founder of Silent Sidekicks. Parents and caregivers learned about the program and had an opportunity to ask questions. The children enjoyed meeting one of the Silent Sidekicks dogs, Morgan, and reading to her.

The next “Reading to the Animals” program will be held at the Lincoln Memorial Library in Lincoln, Maine on March 6th at 3pm. Children may sign up for this event and schedule their time to read with Morgan at the library.
