OLD TOWN, Maine — Sewall is pleased to announce the hiring of LaMarr Clannon as stormwater engineer. Clannon will complement and expand Sewall’s engineering capabilities in low-impact development (LID) stormwater management, promoting innovative methods that infiltrate stormwater into groundwater to reduce impervious surface runoff.

Clannon brings 18 years’ experience in environmental engineering, including technical and management positions at the EnviroCorps, an AmeriCorps field team; the Umpqua Soil and Water Conservation District in Reedsport, Ore.; and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection. For the past nine years, she has been program coordinator of the Nonpoint Source Education for Municipal Officials (NEMO), a program that reaches out to Maine towns to assist with stormwater management and water quality issues.

At Sewall, she will work with the Environmental Engineering Group and Steve Kahl, director of Environmental and Energy Strategies, to develop stormwater utility opportunities in communities across New England. In addition, she will continue to coordinate NEMO part-time, working with the local nonprofit E4Research.org, a research and educational organization that informs citizens, businesses, and policy makers about emerging solutions in energy and the environment.

Kahl, who has conducted stormwater research in New England for 30 years, states, “Infiltration-based stormwater runoff design is the next big thing in Maine for municipalities and developers because it works so well and reduces both construction and maintenance costs. LaMarr‘s experience will build on our existing strengths in environmental engineering and geospatial sciences for the long-term benefit of our clients.”

Clannon has an MS in environmental engineering from Oregon State University and a BS in chemistry from the University of Oregon. She will work out of both Sewall’s Portland and Old Town, Maine, offices.

Founded in 1880, Sewall is an international professional consulting organization specializing in energy, infrastructure and natural resources. The company’s diverse portfolio is based on 133 years’ experience in surveying, forest appraisal and civil engineering; 60 years’ in aerial mapping; and 30 years’ in GIS and application development.
