County Dems to Hold Norman Nelson Night Dinner Dance in Machias

The late Norman Nelson will be honored for his years of community service at a night of dinner and dancing at the Machias Grange April 26 in the inaugural “Norm Nelson Night” sponsored by the Washington County Democratic Committee. Members of Nelson’s family will receive a plaque in recognition of his life-long service to his town and county.

The Orange River Jazz Band will provide the music and the menu will feature pulled pork, vegetarian chili, coleslaw, corn bread, soft drinks and a dessert bar. Tickets, which can be purchased at the door or by calling 255-0994, are $15 for adults and $7 for children under 12, and each ticket will be entered in a raffle for 10 pounds of lobster.

Local Democratic candidates Anne Perry of Calais (state senate) and Katherine Cassidy of Lubec and Robert Alley of Beals (both state house) will be present. Also invited are U.S. Senate candidate Shenna Bellows and 2nd Congressional District candidates Emily Cain and Troy Jackson.
