Searsmont celebrates 200 years with a full day of activities on Saturday August 9 from 8:30 a.m. until after 9 p.m., including walks and tours, pork and lobster dinners, music, a barn dance, and free fireworks. Most activities take place at the Searsmont Community Center on South Main Street (Route 131) just south of the town center. A Muzzy Ridge walk starts at 8:30 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. tour of Oak Grove Cemetery. Searsmont Masons Quantabacook Lodge offers free Child Identification safety and information from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Masons also provide a hot dog stand from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Children’s activities, including face painting and a bounce house, begin at 3 p.m., with balloon animals offered from 5 to 7 p.m. A Pig Roast and Lobster Feed (fee charged) each begin at 5 p.m. Advance reservations via email are strongly recommended at firstname.lastname@example.org, with limited tickets available on the day of the dinners. A barn dance and music by Belfast Bay Fiddlers begins at 6 p.m., with the famous Searsmont Street Band playing from 7 p.m. Free fireworks begin at 9 p.m., with music continuing after the fireworks end. Parking is free both on-street and off-street. Handicap parking is very limited.
