Same day admissions event planned at University College at Rockland

Posted May 29, 2013, at 12:18 p.m.

ROCKLAND, Maine — University College at Rockland and the University of Maine at Augusta will co-sponsor a “Same Day Admissions” event from 2 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, at URock.

Adult students returning to school, high school seniors, GED graduates and transfer students who may be hesitant about the college admissions process are welcome.

Interested students may bring a completed application form available at    http://www.uma.edu/assets/docs/admissions/StudentApplicationForAdmission.pdf, and a high school transcript or GED. URock staff will offer the Accuplacer Placement Test starting at 3 p.m. on that day so those in attendance may easily complete the entire admission process on the spot. The Accuplacer Test indicates skill level and college readiness in reading, writing and math for entering UMA students. It is a tool used to choose the right level of college course work for entering students.

According to URock Director Deborah Meehan in a press release, “We understand that for many convenience is everything. URock advisers and UMA admission counselors will be on hand on June 5 to offer support about financial aid, next steps and course registration. We hope to remove some of the anxiety about this process.”
