Salvation Army Auction to Benefit Fuel Fund

Posted Oct. 16, 2013, at 4:31 p.m.

Bangor, Maine—With items ranging from airplane rides to an iPad, vacation rentals to autographed sports memorabilia, The Salvation Army is gearing up for its Harvest Auction, an annual fundraising event to be held at Jeff’s Catering in Brewer this Friday, October 18, at 6:00 p.m.

The auction has been a tradition for more than 20 years, and this year is taking an exciting new approach by including a sit-down meal, entertainment, a silent auction and the live auction for only $16.00.

The funds raised through this event support The Salvation Army’s fuel fund, which provides assistance to area families during the cold winter months.

“This is an enjoyable night out for those who want to support their community while also having the opportunity to bid on some truly unique items,” said Captain Tim Clark, Corps Officer of The Salvation Army in Bangor. “With underemployment and layoffs, many families struggle to put food on the table, and are overwhelmed by escalating heating bills. They turn to us to help fill the gap, and we want to have the resources to be able to serve them.”

The long list of items that will be available include a vacation rental in Surrey, two hour-long scenic airplane rides, an iPad, an autographed baseball from the Red Sox, an autographed puck from the Bruins, sessions with professional photographers, distinctive furniture, a gift certificates for dining at many area restaurants, home electronics and many other unique offerings.

Tickets can be purchased for $16.00 at The Salvation Army location at 65 South Park Street in Bangor, or at the door while supplies last. Tickets can also be reserved by calling 941-2990.
