ROCKLAND, Maine — District Attorney Geoffrey Rushlau has filed papers to seek another term.

Rushlau is one of the state’s most veteran prosecutors, having been appointed to the district attorney post in June 1993 when William Anderson was appointed to a judicial post. Rushlau has since been elected to the post in 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006 and 2010.

He represents prosecutorial District 6 which covers Knox, Waldo, Lincoln and Sagadahoc counties.

The Dresden resident, a Republican, had previously served as an assistant district attorney in Androscoggin County and then Sagadahoc County beginning in 1981.

No other candidates have filed papers for the prosecutorial seat. Rushlau filed his papers to announce his intentions on Feb. 19.

The deadline for party candidates to file nomination papers with the Maine secretary of state is March 17. Candidates not enrolled in a party have until June 2 to file their papers. The party primaries are June 10 and the general election is Nov. 4.
