BANGOR, Maine — As part of its regular weekly speaker series, the Rotary Club of Bangor has announced that several candidates running for political office this fall will be speaking at club meetings between now and election day on Nov. 4. Bangor Rotary meetings are held Tuesday afternoons at noon at Wellman Commons, 300 Union St.
Dates and scheduled speakers include:
— Tuesday, Aug. 19 – Mike Michaud, Democratic candidate for Governor
— Tuesday, Sept. 2 – Bruce Poliquin, Republican candidate for Congress
— Tuesday, Sept. 9 – Shenna Bellows, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate
— Tuesday, Sept. 16 – Blaine Richardson, Independent candidate for Congress
“We extended an offer to every political candidate running for public office at the national level, and those in the gubernatorial race, inviting them to join us and share details of their platforms,” said Brad Coffey, president of Bangor Rotary Club. “Not everyone was able to accommodate our request and we respect that; nevertheless, we have done our best to ensure all candidates had the opportunity to address our members, regardless of political affiliation.”
To date, Rotarians have already heard from Eliot Cutler, Independent candidate for Governor, and Emily Cain, Democratic candidate for Congress.
Area Rotarians and guests of club members are welcome to attend these meetings. Guests are asked to have their sponsoring member please RSVP on their behalf by noon of the previous Friday by emailing Susan Chaar at Susan_Chaar@concentra.com or by calling 232-7463. Cost for lunch is $12 per person, payable at the door.
