Roque Bluffs holds annual poetry festival

Posted May 08, 2013, at 4:39 p.m.

The 8th Annual Roque Bluffs Poetry Festival will feature poet Bill Carpenter leading the workshop July 27, 2013, at Roque Bluffs Community Center.

Carpenter’s teaching approach will take a new direction and offer innovative changes compared to previous workshops.

Poet, novelist and a founder of College of the Atlantic, Carpenter has offered workshops through the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance and was writer-in-residence at Haystack the summer of 2011. His publication credits include three books of poetry and two novels.

The workshop, founded by the late M. Kelly Lombardi in 2006, continues to be sponsored by the Salt Coast Sages, a poetry writing collaborative centered in Washington County, Maine.

The fee for the workshop is $50. Supper put on by Roque Bluffs Community Chapel will be $9. A public reading by Carpenter and other poets is open to the public at 7 p.m. in the Community Center.

Space in the workshop is limited. To reserve a seat, send fee and contact information (e-mail and postal address and phone number) to the Salt Coast Sages, P.O. Box 263, Cutler, ME 04626.

For more information contact Sharon Bray—sharonbray@localnet.com or talk to other Salt Coast Sages Gerald George, Grace Sheridan and Donald Crane.

We will contact registrants with workshop and schedule details.
