Alexander Mahar , a seventh grade student from Rockland, was recently honored at a regional awards ceremony for academically advanced children sponsored by The Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth (CTY).

Alexander, a student at Rockland District Middle School, was one of more than 38,000 students from over 120 countries who participated in the CTY Talent Search. Alexander took the SAT and received high enough scores to qualify. Only about 30% of students who participated earned an invitation to a CTY Awards Ceremony to be honored for their academic performance and potential.

Alexander lives in Rockland with his mother, Rosemarie Richter, and his brother, Nicholas Mahar. His father, Todd Mahar, also lives in Rockland.
