JONESPORT, Maine — Robbi Carver of Beals, a senior at Jonesport-Beals High School, has been selected to receive the 2012 Principal’s Award, Principal Michael Kelley announced today. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.
In announcing this award, Principal Kelley said, “Robbi Carver is an outstanding student at Jonesport-Beals High School and will graduate at the top of the class in June. She is a focused young lady committed to academic achievement. Robbi is a member of the National Honor Society, and has been on the Honor Roll, achieving High Honors, every quarter since entering J-BHS. Robbi has displayed many leadership qualities at J-BHS serving as Class President, Class Treasurer, Student Council Representative, and in 2010 represented J-BHS at the Maine Youth Leadership Conference. Robbi has excelled in the Jonesport-Beals sports program participating in volleyball, basketball, and softball. She has captained the volleyball team, received the DAC Award for volleyball, and earned the DAC Award for softball. As a school leader and positive role model for J-BHS, Robbi is a member of the band, chorus, theatre group, and serves as a mentor for elementary students. She is very deserving of this honor.”
Robbi, Mr. Kelley and other award winners and their principals will attend an Honors Luncheon at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 1:00 p.m.
The Honors Luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler. Mr. McGowan and Mr. Tyler were former Maine principals and executive directors of the Association.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
