Operation Community Support, a Bangor-based nonprofit military assistance program, recently thanked the Cross Insurance Center staff for hosting a private showing of the three Boston Red Sox World Series trophies in Bangor last Jan. 26. Before the doors of the Cross Insurance Center opened to the general public that Sunday, military families spent an hour checking out the trophies and chatting with Red Sox third-base coach Brian Butterfield, who is from Orono. In a brief ceremony held in late May in the CIC lobby, Operation Community Support presented Cross Insurance Center General Manager Joe Imbriaco (right) with a framed Red Sox Nation North T-shirt that was autographed by Stephen and Tabitha King. Also participating in the ceremony were (from left) Skip Chappelle, a founding member of Operation Community Support; Sgt. Aaron Smith of Milford; and Spec. Sarah Starkey of Gray. Assigned to the 120th Regional Support Group of the Maine Army National Guard, Smith and Starkey represented Maine military families. The framed T-shirt will be displayed in the Cross Insurance Center general office.
