The Hatchery, a free seven-week course on starting a business, continues at the Camden Public Library with its ‘Real Stories’ session, held on Tuesday, November 19, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
‘The Hatchery,’ a business development seminar series at the Camden Public Library, has so far been looking at what a business owner needs to know to get started. The next class, a very special one, will present four people know what it’s like to run a business in the Midcoast.
“A good way to learn about starting and growing a business is to listen to, and talk with, people who are really doing it,” said Ken Greenleaf, a microenterprise consultant with MaineStream Finance and coordinator of the series.
The class, ‘Real Stories,’ will hear from Sarah Baldwin, of Bella Luna Toys, Peter Horch, of Horch Roofing, Jim Gamage, of All4U Staffing, and Kerry Altiero, of Café Miranda. Each of these people have a special story to tell about living and doing business here.
A cooperative effort of the Library, the Midcoast Magnet, the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce and MaineStream Finance, ‘The Hatchery’ series is anchored by Ken Greenleaf, a microenterprise consultant from MaineStream Finance. Bangor Savings Bank is providing financial support.
The series is free and open to all, either for the whole course or for each individual session. The core theme of the classes is helping people write a business plan that includes all the information they will need to get started.
The final session of The Hatchery series will be held on December 5, and will wrap up the development and use of a thorough business plan.
