Maine Author Jennifer Wixson introduces her new book, “The Songbird of Sovereign,” July 24, 2014, 6:30-8 p.m. at a fundraiser for the historic Troy Union Church, Route 9/202, Troy. The church, built in 1840, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and has received grants to restore its steeple.
Wixson will talk about the inspiration for this third book in her Sovereign Series, which is set in 1941-42 at Windmere Sanatorium, a fictitious sanatorium for the treatment of TB. In addition, she will read from the new novel and answer questions about her Sovereign Series. Autographed books will be on sale, and $5 from the sale of each copy will be donated to the Troy Union Church Steeple Fund.
The event is open to the public and light refreshments will be served. If the the church is under construction on the 24th the event will be held at the nearby B.B. Cook Club House on Route 9.
