Quoddy Voices Celebrates Spring

Downeast Maine’s new choral group, Quoddy Voices, will present its debut concert on Sunday, June 1 at 3pm at the Eastport Arts Center. The theme of the program is Spring Returns. Under the direction of John Newell, the group will perform a wide variety of works celebrating the season, including a set of Elizabethan madrigals, and classic numbers by Haydn, Mendelssohn, Brahms that feature accompanist Robb Cook. The program also includes songs from the English & Canadian folk traditions, as well as works by John Newell, Randall Thompson, George Harrison, George Gershwin, Rodgers & Hammerstein. Special guest will be Duane Ingalls, who will present a set of his poetry and celebratory songs.

Quoddy Voices numbers 28 dedicated singers, hailing all the way from Calais to Campobello. They began working together in February, and plan to continue as a ongoing choral group. New singers of any level of experience are welcome.
