ENFIELD, Maine — Penobscot Valley High School’s Freshmen are hosting a Bass Derby 5 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, June 28, on Upper and Lower Cold Stream Ponds, with the weigh-in noon-7 p.m. at Gary Stover beach, (old fish hatchery/boat landing) on Cold Stream.
The derby is a fundraiser for Project Graduation and to assist in removing the invasive species of bass from the lake.
Tickets are $1 each or $5 for a book of six, which includes the entry fee and a chance at shore prizes. Top shore prize is an Old Town kayak, life preserver and paddle.
Prizes for bass catches are $100 for the largest combined weight of bass, and $50 for the second largest combined weight of bass; $100 for the largest number of bass, and $50 for the second largest number of bass are also prizes. A boy and a girl with the largest combined weight of bass will win a $50 savings bonds.
There will be a food concession at the weigh in and tickets can be purchased at the concession and at Enfield General store.
