PORTLAND, Maine — Putney, Inc., a rapidly growing pharmaceutical company focused on the development and sale of generic prescription medicines for pets, has named Ellen Tobias as vice president of technical operations, reporting to Putney CEO and President Jean Hoffman.
Tobias has extensive experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing with Eli Lilly and Elanco, Eli Lilly’s animal health division. Tobias led manufacturing as Vice President of Elanco Animal Health Manufacturing when Elanco launched its companion animal health business and sales rose from $880 million to $1.39 billion. In her new role at Putney, Tobias will provide strategic leadership and execution of the company’s global supply chain and manufacturing network in order to drive growth and support the launch of new products.
Tobias’ long career in both the human and companion animal pharmaceutical industry spans every type of manufacturing – intermediates, active pharmaceutical ingredients (API), final dosage forms – as well as global logistics and commercial scale-up from product development. Hoffman says Tobias brings the leadership skills and technical expertise to develop strong manufacturing partnerships and a robust supply chain as Putney continues to expand its product line. “Product quality and reliable supply are paramount at Putney. I’m impressed by Ellen’s technical skills, her results-oriented approach to problem solving and her ability to align people to deliver goals,” says Hoffman in a prepared statement.
After years of working at large companies, Tobias says the challenge, pace and entrepreneurial spirit at Putney is refreshing. “I’m excited to be part of a team that is developing new products as a business opportunity, and also fulfilling a social need by making pet healthcare more affordable,” says Tobias in a prepared statement.
