Portland High School student wins state writing award

PORTLAND, Maine – Francesca Butterfield, a junior at Portland High School, won first place in Maine in the Classical Association of New England Writing Contest.

Her essay, “Eros’s Decision,” will represent Maine in the New England competition.

This is the third year in a row that a Portland High School Latin student has

won first prize in the state.
