Poetry Workshop offered at Calais Bookshop on April 26

Poet Russell Buker will be teaching a poetry workshop on Saturday, April 26, at 1 p.m., at Calais Bookshop. April is National Poetry Month so everyone is invited, whether an experienced poet or a novice. There is no charge.

Buker has had numerous poems accepted in many publications in the U.S. and in Canada: The Antigonish Review, The Windrow Anthology, The Cape Breton Collection, Pottersfield Press, Goose River Anthology, Germ Magazine, Portland Press Poetry Section, The Aurorean, Felt Sun, The Aputamkan Review, Germ Magazine River Muse, Page & Spine, Maine Writes Anthology, and Crack the Spine.

He has published many books of poetry, his most recent ones being So As It Semed Me, Markings, Final Mask, Mutato Nomine, and Deposition LXXII.

Buker, who has retired three times so far, is a former English and creative writing teacher at Shead High School. He also coached for many years, such sports as football, baseball, basketball, and tennis. He has been a farmer on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, a classical literature teacher in Massachusetts, and even drove tour buses around Idaho for a while. He currently lives beside a lake in Alexander.
