Poet Richard Foerster to Read at UMaine October 19

The Maine Writers Series presents award-winning poet Richard Foerster on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 4 p.m. at the Neville Hall Writing Center on the University of Maine campus in Orono.

Foerster is the 2011 winner of both a National Endowment for the Arts poetry fellowship and a Maine Literary Award winner for his latest poetry collection, “Penetralia.”

Foerster is the author of six poetry collections. “Double Going” was named a 2002 Notable Book by the National Book Critics Circle, and “The Burning of Troy” received the 2007 Maine Literary Award for Poetry.

Widely published in magazines and anthologies, Foerster has worked as a lexicographer, writer, typesetter, and editor of the literary magazines “Chelsea” and “Chautauqua Literary Journal.”

Foerster’s reading will be followed by refreshments and a book signing.
