Paving was applied to the sewer line trenches to prepare Somerset Avenue for the winter. Sargent Corporation’s contractor completed much of the trench paving prior to rainy weather on Tuesday, 11/13/2012. Due to the weather, the project shut down at 12:00 noon on Tuesday. Paving will begin again at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, 11/14/2012. This is an approximate schedule dependent upon weather, amount of traffic, and other conditions. It is recommended that travelers seek other routes, however, the company will do all that it can to keep traffic flowing as best as possible through this paving construction zone. During the sewer replacement project, it has been found that the sewer line is in worse condition than originally projected which was a poor condition – it is full of cracks, holes, broken joints, sags and root intrusion with extensive leaking. After sewer line replacement, this road will be a strong candidate for a Maine Department of Transportation capital improvement which will enhance rideability of the actual roadway. Thank you to all for your patience as Sargent Corporation replaces this very old sewer line which is in the process of failure. After paving is completed, the project will shut down for the winter and then start up in Spring, 2013 when the Maine Department of Transportation approves the project to begin.
