Pittsfield Main Street (Route #100) Closed at Downtown Railroad Crossing on Mon – Wed., Oct. 21-23

Posted Oct. 20, 2013, at 10:49 p.m.

Public Notification Reminder:

Main Street (Route #100) Road Closure

Location: At the Main Street (Route #100) Downtown Railroad Crossing between the Library and Veterans Park.

Dates: Monday, October 21, 2013; Tuesday, October 22, 2013; and Wednesday, October 23, 2013.

Times: All day and all night until completed. MDOT and Pan Am will start at 6:00 am on Monday, October 21.

The Main Street Railroad Crossing will be closed to traffic as Pan Am rehabilitates the crossing and MDOT paves the area between the tracks. Traffic will not be able to cross the railroad tracks for three days. There will be local traffic only for Main Street coming into Town from the south. All thru traffic must use the Pittsfield Industrial Park Truck Route. On the other side of the railroad crossing, the downtown may be accessed from Somerset Avenue and North Main (Route #100). Therefore, to access the opposite side of the Main Street crossing, traffic must take another route as the crossing will be totally closed.

It is suggested that businesses and residences in this area inform their business associates, delivery companies, family and friends. We apologize for any inconvenience caused during this project. The end result will be a much smoother ride over the crossing. For specific questions on this project, MDOT’s Bangor Office # is 941-4500. The Pittsfield Town Office # is 487-3136.
