BANGOR, Maine — The first ever Penobscot SkiBash will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Bangor Municipal Golf Course, located at 278 Webster Ave. The Penobscot SkiBash is a free one-day event focused on getting kids and families outside in the winter. Cross-country ski equipment will be available to rent at no cost. Activities will include laser biathlon, a radar speed trap, a scavenger hunt, an obstacle course, and more. Optional ski races (1.5km, 3km, and 6km) will begin at 3 p.m. Skiers of all ages and abilities are encouraged to attend. Hot chocolate and snacks will be available near the bonfire for those who want to warm up after skiing. Although Maine winters may seem long and cold, outdoor activities such as cross-country skiing can keep everyone healthy and active throughout the season.
This event is a collaboration between the Penobscot Valley Ski Club, the Healthy Hometowns program of the Maine Winter Sports Center, Bangor Region Public Health and Wellness, and Bangor Parks and Recreation Department. Check for updates at www.BangorParksandRec.com.
