Do you want to provide your customers with a uniquely Down East experience that they can’t get anywhere else?
A group of Washington County business counselors and technical assistance providers, will be helping businesspeople in the tourism and hospitality sectors discover how they can grow their business by working with other companies in the area to offer one-of-a-kind Down East experiences.
“It might be that you’re a lobsterman, you have a friend who owns a restaurant, and you know someone who offers tours of the area, or your aunt is very involved with the historical society. What if you all worked together, offered a package to your customers, and really promoted it to catch more of the people passing through the area every summer? Well, that’s what this workshop series can help you figure out,” Sunrise County Economic Council (SCEC) Assistant Director Jennifer Peters said. “It’s about ‘co-opetition’ or finding ways to work with potential competitors so that everyone benefits.”
Attendees will learn about the essentials of marketing, the art of successful “co-opetition” and how to deal with risk amongst partners. Participants and their potential partners will also have an opportunity to come together to brainstorm their ideas with business counselors during breakout sessions. A panel of local businesspeople who have “been there, and done that” will be sharing the lessons they learned from their own real-life experiences.
“We’ve got some great presenters lined up for these sessions,” Ruth Cash Smith of the Women’s Business Center at CEI said, “including Attorney Paul Dillon from Corinth, who is going to focus on risk management. There’s going to be something for everyone, whether you’re just starting out in business or have been in business for years. These workshops are an excellent investment opportunity.”
This workshop series will be offered March 7, 14 and 21st at the Chandler River Community Room in Jonesboro. Visit www.sunrisecounty.org for a complete schedule.
