KITTERY, Maine — Overnight paving begins on Monday, May 6, on Interstate 95 in Kittery. The project begins just north of the Spruce Creek Bridge and extends southerly 1.9 miles to the Piscataquis River Bridge at the Maine-New Hampshire border.
Southbound lanes will be paved between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday nights through Friday mornings to reduce the impact on traffic flow. Lane use will be restricted to one lane.
Northbound lanes will be done between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. Monday nights through Saturday mornings. On and off ramps may be closed for certain operations periodically, including drainage work, according to a Maine Department of Transportation press release.
Motorists should use caution as “uneven lanes” will require attention upon changing lanes, DOT said.
The roadway surface will be removed and repaved to provide a smoother and safer ride.
Weather permitting, it is anticipated all work will be completed by the end of June.
