Orono Historical Society moves part of Civil War Monument

ORONO, Maine — With help from the Orono Public Works, the Orono Historical Society recently moved the soldier statue portion of Orono’s Civil War Monument  from the Keith Anderson Community House for the trip to Crockett Welding in Argyle, where the first phase of the restoration project will begin under the direction of Peter Crockett.

Mary Ann Eason of the Orono Historical  Society  captured the moving scene.

The Orono Historical Society continues to raise funds for the repair of the pedestal portion of the monument. Contributions can be sent  to The Orono Historical Society , P.O. Box 324, Orono 04473.
