Orland church celebrating 200 years with special service, picnic

ORLAND, Maine — During a very successful Orland River Day, in which Orland United Methodist Church participated with a yard sale and strawberry shortcake booth, church members made the public aware of some special events coming up as the church celebrates 200 years of mission and ministry under the banner of Jesus Christ.
This brings the church to the second phase of our anniversary celebrations.
On July 20, the church will have a “Homecoming” at the 10 a.m. worship service, focusing on the sharing of memories and uplifting music.  Memories from anyone having a connection with the village church are being collected to share at this event.
Following worship, there will be a picnic outside if weather permits. Those wishing to eat outside may bring  lawn chairs or blankets. Tables and chairs will be provided if you wish to eat inside. The public is invited but call the church office at 469-3714 so there will be enough food. The menu will consist of hamburgers, hot dogs, and chicken from the grill, with salads, chips, punch, lemonade, cookies, squares, and watermelon.
