Open House at the East Machias Aquatic Research Center February 28th

Posted Feb. 11, 2014, at 2:21 p.m.

The Downeast Salmon Federation would like to invite you to our open house at the East Machias Aquatic Center (EMARC) on February 28th. The open house will begin at 5:30 pm and is scheduled to run until 7:30pm. We have come a long way in just the past couple years and have a lot of great things in store for this year and we would like to tell you all about it! If you have not had a chance to see our state-of-the-art Atlantic salmon restoration hatchery and visitor’s center, this is a great time to do so! We will be offering refreshments and hatchery tours for the first part of the open house followed by a presentation discussing the Downeast Salmon Federation; who we are, what EMARC is all about, our programs and where we are headed. We will have staff and regional Maine DMR Fisheries Biologists present for a question and answer session after the presentation. If you are interested in what the Downeast Salmon Federation is doing, or have been wondering what it is we do in that big building with all the solar panels behind Archibald’s, come on down to find out. EMARC is located at 13 Willow St., just off of Rt. 1 in East Machias; just behind the gulf station (about 2.3 miles from Machias). We are the large, cedar shingled building on the river with three rows of solar panels in the front yard.
