Old Town man graduates from basic training

FORT JACKSON, S.C. — Army PV2 Tyler J. Whitmore, son of Cathy Jo Whitmore of Greenbush and Kevin Whitmore of Old Town, recently graduated from U.S. Army Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, S.C. During the 10 week program, Whitmore excelled in the army values, physical fitness, combat marksmanship and discipline. In addition, he was one of only 10 soldiers chosen out of 205 in his platoon to be promoted.

Whitmore is now at his Advanced Individual Training for Wheel Vehicle Mechanic at Fort Lee, Virginia, for 12 weeks. He will then go to Fort Benn, Georgia, for 2 weeks of jump school training for the Airborne Unit.

Tyler graduated from Old Town High School in 2012.
