Company News

We would like to thank the City of Easport, the Unorganized Territories of Washington County and the Town of Lubec for voting to assist Down East EMS in the process of refinancing. Consolidating our debt will allow us to operate more efficiently.

There will be no cost to these entities unless Down East EMS ceases operations. Keep in mind Down East EMS has never missed a loan payment. Thanks for helping us ensure the future of our service!

Company employees completed yearly mandatory training. Topics ranged from proper use of fire extinguishers to blood borne pathogens to hazardous materials awareness.

Congratulations to Charlie Mock who has joined us as a full time Paramedic. He is an experienced paramedic who will work from our Woodland base.

Who’s in the Back what’s an Advanced EMT I don’t know what a paramedic is

Down East EMS have staff at 3 levels of medical licensing. EMT’s aka basics can provide care by doing such things as giving oxygen, assisting with certain patient medications and using an AED. Advanced EMT’s add the ability to initiate IV’s, perform EKG’s and give certain medications. Paramedics can perform and interpret 12 lead EKG’s, provide narcotic pain medication and give a full range of medications in case of cardiac arrest. Regardless of the mix of personnel on board all our staff are skilled, compassionate and reliable.

We also have staff that while not holders of medical licenses perform as drivers after receiving training in Emergency Vehicle Operation.
