Downeast Health Services was honored to receive $5,000 in funds from Northeast Delta Dental Foundation for the purchase of clinical supplies for Maine Coast Community Dental Clinic and its portable program for the upcoming year.
Since 2003, the Downeast Health’s dental clinic has evolved to stay at the forefront of innovative care while assuring quality oral healthcare remains an affordable option for residents in our area. Annually, Maine Coast Community Dental Clinic charges an average of $700,000 for services. However, due to Mainecare reimbursement rates of 56% and the rise of uninsured individuals utilizing the sliding fee scale (up to a 25% discount offered based on income), Downeast Health relies on inkind donations from its dental partners and private funds to supplement clinic supplies and keep costs low for patients. Ongoing support received from funders, such as Northeast Delta Dental Foundation, enable Downeast Health to continue providing needed care without increasing fees for the uninsured.
The Northeast Delta Dental Foundation is a consistent supporter of Downeast Health Services, investing over $50,000 since 2005. “We’re committed to improving access to oral health information and dental services, so we’re delighted when we can help highly skilled and compassionate dental professionals to provide these valuable services to their community,” said Secretary and Assistant Treasurer of the Northeast Delta Dental Foundation, Betty Andrews. The Foundation is an outreach of Northeast Delta Dental, which offers dental insurance programs to organizations of all sizes and to individuals and families with no access to employer-sponsored dental benefits.
