CAMDEN, Maine — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine has announced its newest board member, Heather Mott of Bangor. She is the branch manager of BONNEY Staffing Center of Bangor, an organization that recruits, screens and places applicants in general office as well as light industrial positions at hundreds of companies throughout Maine and Southern New Hampshire.
Prior to that, she worked at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital in the Human Resources Department. She began in the staffing industry in 2006 when she worked for Kelly Services. She graduated from the Bangor Region Leadership Institute in May of 2012, and serves on the board of Junior Achievement of Maine.
As a BBBS board member, Mott serves on the agency’s Human Resources Committee, which is responsible for reviewing the agency’s personnel policies and making recommendations concerning employee benefits, programs and training.
Mott is a firm believer in community service and continues to teach First Aid/CPR with the American Red Cross, something she has done for the past 16 years. In addition, over the past several years, she has helped her 9-year old son Brayden collect toys for the Toys for Tots program. Their efforts have resulted in over 6,000 toys and cash/check donations that are distributed in the greater Bangor area with donations coming from around the United States, Canada and even Ireland.
“As a parent, I think it’s important to teach children the importance of giving back to those less fortunate. As a board member for Big Brothers Big Sisters, I know our agency makes a positive difference in children’s lives by providing strong, caring mentors to help those who face adversities in their lives,” Mott says.
Mott lives in Orrington with her husband, Shawn, and son, Brayden.
