The Moose Masterpiece Art Show opening reception was held on Friday June 14th at the Center for Moosehead History. Candy Russell of the Moosehead Historical Society and Debi Lynne Baker organized the show as part of the 2013 Moose Lottery Festival held in Greenville this past weekend.
160 Entries from around the state were on display. Art was submitted in many mediums from pen, pencil, acrylics, oil pastels, forged horseshoes, natural plants, plaster, scratchboards to name just a few.
Winners were; Best of Show: Michael E. Vermette. Best of Adult: Elizabeth Auger and Adult Honorable Mention: Patrick O’Connor. Best of High School: Nils Wahlstrom, and High School: Honorable Mention and People’s Choice Award: Victoria Diaz. Best of Grades 4-8:Block Thorne, Kahlan Newsom, Natanis Neptune, Austin Loring, Sarah Agnes Fields and Tia LaBretton. Best of Grades 2-4:Makayla Landry and Grades 2-4 Honorable Mention: Kirsten Marshal. Best of Pre K-1: Riley Inch and Grades Pre K-1 Honorable Mention: Jackson Smith.
First place winners received prizes from Cabella’s of gear bags and hats along with ribbons and certificates. Artist and educator Pam Koch, was the judge for the show. Refreshments were served of moose cookies and lemonade.
