Funding for the donation was raised through a weekend flag Fundraiser held on July 12th & 13.
A tour of Camp Capella was given to MODD members by Director Mosher.During the tour Mr Mosher explained the camp’s mission of sending people with special needs/ physical limitations to camp for a week.
The camp is supported by a dedicated group of volunteers & businesses ; with only two paid staff members (only one of them is full time). Some of the buildings were funded & built by area businesses. All other renovations have been completed by the volunteers.
The Nature Center in the camp is staffed by the University of Maine ; & provides the campers with hands-on & classroom
teaching of various local wildlife & their habitats.
Of course all these wonderful camping experiences cannot exist without financial support.
Some of the fundraising events employed to help keep the camp running so sucessfully include an Adopt a Brick Program , a February polar dunk in the lake ,golf outings ,& the Touch A Truck event held on September 7th this year at Speedway 95.At this event vehicles from various individuals & businesses gather to meet & greet the public to raise funds for Camp CaPella.
