Meet Your Farmers and Fishermen: Community-Supported Agriculture Fair in Bangor

Posted Feb. 28, 2013, at 4:47 p.m.

BANGOR– Ten local farmers will exhibit and explain the ways that area residents can support them and eat fresh produce all summer long at the annual “Meet Your Farmers and Fishermen: Community Supported Agriculture Fair” this Saturday March 2nd.

The event will be held from 2-5pm at the Hammond Street Congregational Church, at 28 High Street in Bangor. At the fair, the farmers will share information about their CSAs, which allow customers to sign up in the spring as members to get a weekly share of fresh food – including vegetables, fruit, cheese meat, and more — during the summer. According to event organizer Erin Sweeney, CSAs are growing in numbers and becoming easy for customers to support with close-by pick up locations in Bangor, Brewer, Orono, Bucksport, Ellsworth, Winterport and more. The event is free and open to the public.

This event is co-sponsored by Food AND Medicine and the Maine Organic Farmers and Growers Association. For more information, please contact Erin Sweeney at Food AND Medicine at 989-5860.
