ELLSWORTH, Maine — The family of Margaret S. Blake recently announced the establishment of the first named fund through Maine Coast Healthcare Foundation in support of the Mary Dow Center.
Mrs. Blake’s family shared that she had felt very comfortable having her treatments at the Center and that she received wonderful care. Mrs. Blake had said that she wished she could help somehow, and when the new named fund program became available, her family had the perfect answer to her wish.
Named funds are an excellent opportunity for donors who want to create a permanent legacy in honor of or in memory of someone special. Starting at $10,000, named funds can be designated for a specific program or service such emergency care or cancer treatment. Donors will receive periodic reports about the use of their gift and, with the donor’s consent, named funds will be recognized on the Foundation’s Legacy Society plaque located in the Hospital reception area.
Maine Coast Healthcare Foundation ensures that funds are professionally managed and that annual support from each fund benefits Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. Foundation chair, Jeff Jones, shared in a press release, “Named funds are extremely important because they offer the Hospital ongoing financial resources that help us maintain high-quality healthcare.”
