PORTLAND, Maine — The Maine Small Business Development Centers has selected Jennifer Sherwood as the 2014 State Star. The award, given annually, recognizes a member of the Maine SBDC staff that has shown exemplary performance and a strong commitment to small business success.

“Jennifer is an incredible asset to our program. She is a committed team player and is unfailingly cheerful. Always one to extend a helping hand, her extensive knowledge and positive attitude really make her stand out,” said Mark Delisle, Maine SBDC state director.

Sherwood is a project assistant at the Maine SBDC at the University of Southern Maine in Portland where she manages the program’s marketing and digital presence. She helps to equip business counselors throughout the state with the necessary tools to ensure that Maine SBDC provides superior services to its clients. This is the first time the Maine SBDC has selected a member of the administrative staff for this award.

Each year, America’s Small Business Development Centers recognizes top performers from programs around the country at its annual conference. A special reception will be held Monday, Sept. 9, in Grapevine, Texas to honor this year’s award winners, including Sherwood.
