Posted Feb. 05, 2014, at 2:29 p.m.

PORTLAND, Maine  – The Maine Public Relations Council, an association of Maine-based public relations practitioners, will hold a professional Development program “Telling Your Story with Technology,” 8:30-11:30 a.m. Feb. 21, at Fireside Inn and Suites in Portland.

As professionals in an ever-evolving industry, public relations practitioners rely on the use of multimedia to get their messages, or their clients’ messages, heard. It is important for individuals in the industry to stay in touch with new advances in technology and ways to reach  their audiences.

“Our professional development program is off to a great start with our successful January event, and this session will be just as informative,” MPRC President, Kelly Barden, said, in a press release. “As PR professionals we rely on technology to get our messages out to the public, and with the insight from this expert panel we will all come away with a new perspective on connecting through technology.”

The event will consist of an expert panel discussion followed by a workshop. Panel members include: award winning photographer, Brian Fitzgerald, award-winning media producer and chief storyteller for United Way of Greater Portland, Suzi Piker, and Dan Routh, creative director for Creative Imaging Group. During the panel discussion, attendees will learn how to produce stories that best engage their audiences through the use of technologies.

All communications, marketing and public relations professionals and students are encouraged to attend this event. A light breakfast will be served.

Prices are: $20 for members and $35 for nonmembers for panel discussion only; $25 for members and $40 for nonmembers for panel discussion and workshop.

Now in its 37th year, the approximately 300-member Maine Public Relations Council is a professional association of Maine public relations practitioners. MPRC is dedicated to the professional development of its members and a greater awareness of the role of public relations in the world today. It is a member of the Universal Accreditation Board.
