In today’s complex marketing world businesses and nonprofits are cutting through the clutter and reaching their target audiences through compelling and engaging content marketing efforts. That means they aren’t creating content for content sake but creating videos, blog posts, social posts and other forms of content designed to engage their specific and identified audience. Knowing who you are talking to is a critical step in the content creation cycle. On Friday, May 19, 2017, the Maine Public Relations Council (MPRC) will host a panel discussion, “Defining Your Target Audience and Creating Content to Connect,” at the University of Southern Maine in Portland, to help PR professionals explore best practices in persona development and how that insight should and can drive content creation, channel distribution selection, engagement and lead generation.

Moderated by Amanda O’Brien, Director of Business Development at flyte New Media and Founder of Social Media Breakfast Maine, panelists will include:

• Hannah Richards, Content Marketing Specialist at Ethos Marketing

• Trevor Jones, Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Customer Service at OTT Communications

• Adam McNally, Content Marketing Manager at Berry Dunn

Attendees will learn how to clearly define and understand the audience, re-focus content development, and identify the right channels to engage each target audience. A hands-on workshop will follow the panel discussion, in which attendees will participate in audience defining and content creation exercises.
