Maine Prep will offer Maine high school students an opportunity to prep for both the ACT and SAT tests starting in September at the Maine Prep offices, 22 Parkers Way, Brunswick.
ACT prep classes will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. every Thursday, September 4 through October 23, to prepare students for the October 25 ACT.
SAT classes meet every Wednesday and Sunday, September 7 through October 8, to prepare for the October SAT and PSAT.
The 8-session SAT and ACT prep courses are specially designed to prepare high school students who plan to apply to college early decision. For seniors, the October SAT and ACT are the last chances to improve scores before early decision application deadlines.
The ACT tests grammar, math, reading and scientific literacy. While the SAT rewards reasoning ability ACT requires speed and so rewards those who are familiar with its format and can work quickly and efficiently. The ACT essay, which is optional, requires the test taker to use his or her own experience in order to justify an argument.
Colleges accept scores from both the ACT and SAT. Students are often encouraged by guidance counselors to take both tests to find out which is a better fit with their abilities.
Maine Prep, Maine’s largest test prep company, has helped thousands of Maine students raise their SAT and ACT scores, boost their admissions chances, and qualify for merit scholarships.
