LEWISTON, Maine — Kevin Lewis, CEO of Maine Community Health Options (MCHO), announced that Michael (Mike) Gendreau has joined the organization as director of outreach, education and communications.
MCHO is a not-for-profit that will provide affordable health insurance to Maine people and small businesses beginning in January 2014. Organized as a Consumer Operated and Oriented Plan (CO-OP), MCHO’s mission is to provide high-quality benefits that promote health and wellbeing.
In his new role, Gendreau is responsible for the strategic development and implementation of MCHO’s community and consumer outreach, education, marketing and communications. He has over 20 years of experience in non-profit, faith-based and healthcare sectors providing leadership, direction, guidance and assistance to executive teams and staff to ensure mission integrity in all organizational processes and strategies.
Prior to joining MCHO, Gendreau was the vice president of mission effectiveness at Mercy Hospital in Portland, ME. He worked closely with the CEO and management team in integrating mission, vision and values throughout the organization.
A native of Madawaska, Mike received an A.S. in merchandising and marketing from Thomas College in Waterville, ME, and a B.A. and M.A in theology from St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore, MD. Additionally, he earned a Green Belt in Lean Process Improvement through the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. Gendreau currently resides in Falmouth.
