LEWISTON, Maine — Kevin Lewis, CEO of Maine Community Health Options (MCHO), recently announced that Ed Vozzo has joined the organization as chief financial officer.
MCHO is a not-for-profit organization that will provide affordable health insurance to Maine people and small businesses beginning in January 2014. The enrollment start date for the plan is Oct. 1. Organized as a Consumer Operated and Oriented Plan (CO-OP), MCHO’s mission is to provide high-quality benefits that promote health and wellbeing.
As CFO, Vozzo is a key member of the executive team and the senior financial executive of MCHO. He is responsible for developing and implementing corporate, financial, operational and fiscal policies and control procedures. His 13-plus years of experience in the financial and health insurance fields in both new and established ventures — including a Fortune 500 company — make him well-suited to this new position. Vozzo also has background in strategic prioritization, financial analysis, reporting and planning, as well as controller work and forecasting in both for-profit and not-for-profit sectors.
“As a new employee of Maine Community Health Options, I look forward to helping the organization bring increased access to quality healthcare to all Maine people,” says Vozzo.
Vozzo graduated from United States Military Academy, West Point, and spent five years in the US Army as a combat engineer. After leaving the service in 1997 he studied finance at the Yale School of Management. He has since worked in finance, strategy and accounting roles at ExxonMobil, UnitedHealth Group and The Hartford, as well as consulting and CFO roles in the non-profit insurance sector. Vozzo and his family recently moved to Maine.
Maine Community Health Options is a Consumer Operated and Oriented Plan (CO-OP) created through a program of the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). MCHO is a private, nonprofit entity governed by a customer-based Board of Directors, which gives enrollees a strong voice in the management and development of the plan.
