MACHIAS, Maine — A committee is forming to present a series of events during the week before Margaretta Day in June of 2013 to celebrate the 250th birthday of Machias. The first formal meeting will be a lunch gathering (dutch treat) at Helen’s Restaurant conference room at noon on Tuesday, March 6.
We want to have one event each day during the celebration week that really brings the community together and echoes the celebration in 1813. For example, on the last night (Friday) we will have a community picnic in Bad Little Falls park that will include strolling musicians and sing-alongs, culminating in spectacular fireworks. Some of the things we want to discuss is a children’s day (including a window painting contest along Main Street with the Margaretta Days theme and magicians, clowns, etc., at the awards’ ceremony), a mustache growing contest, possibly a cooking contest, or a community softball game.
RSVP please. For more information or to RSVP, call Sharon Mack at 263.8859 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
