ROCKPORT, Maine — Go! Malawi’s second race of the 5K Race Series is the Luv ME 5K at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at Samoset Resort, 220 Warrenton St. in Rockport.
The nonprofit is kicking off its annual fund drive to raise funds for the school fees for orphans and other vulnerable children in rural Malawi. GO! Malawi’s founder, Janet Littlefield, is a midcoast native, daughter of Doc and Sally Littlefield, and a lifelong educator who teaches at Hebron Academy and spends summers in Malawi.
Walkers, runners and well-behaved dogs are all welcome. Registration 8:30-10 a.m. the day of the race at The Samoset or at RunSignUp.com or Active.com or via www.go-malawi.org
The annual 5K race series is organized by local volunteers from Team Go! Malawi, which consists of local walkers and runners who share a common vision: “To Run With a Purpose, For a Purpose”. They challenge themselves to be physically fit and to make a positive global change supporting Go! Malawi. They are looking for a few more team members to join them in their destination marathon or half marathon this fall. If you are interested in running for the team or joining Team Go!
