We all want to enjoy Maine’s Spring, but Lubec is where life comes alive this Saturday, April 27, 2013.

The highlight of Lubec’s Spring is not only the Full Pink Moon – casting its aura just outside of our reach, the illumination and splendor reflecting upon our peninsula – but the migration of birds, the awaking of the peepers, and wild life to follow.

Story continues below advertisement.

With Lubec’s Spring’s awaking comes a host of activities:

Northern Tides Art and Gift Gallery will be hosting editor and writer Ron Pesha’s newest publication, The Great Gold Swindle of Lubec, Maine, from 1 – 3pm at 24 Water Street. James and Michelle Robbins, of Becky’s Seafood, will be joining us to introduce salmon pate, haddock, scallops, and salmon sticks.

Bayside Chocolates, a few steps down the sidewalk, will also tantalize taste buds with hand-made chocolates to entice and share during the starry-eyed night.

Since it is also Derby Day, Water Street Tavern and Inn will be celebrating the best American Horse Race by offering free appetizers to women who celebrate the Kentucky Derby tradition by wearing a “Derby Hat”. As we all know, a woman wearing a hat to the Kentucky Derby is considered good luck. So we encourage all women, from near and far, to don their most flamboyant chapeau and drop by the Water Street Tavern.

Casting not only the Moon’s glow off her building but a musical melody, Annabell’s Pub will be hosting Against the Grain – a favorite band with rhythm, grit, and a touch of local flavor — to jive into the evening.

Whether you come to Lubec to participate in the festivities or simply plan to witness the moon’s glow on the bogs and listen to the peepers, enjoy a night’s visit at the Eastland Motel. The Eastland Motel staff will not only honor your privacy, but will suggest the best scenic trails to hike, best coffee spots in town, as well as keep you connected with local events.

Lubec, Maine, where all life Springs eternal.
