Louisa Beal receives the MPA Principals’ Award for Jonesport-Beals High School

JONESPORT – Louisa Beal of Beals, a senior at Jonesport-Beals High School, was selected for the 2013 Principal’s Award. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.

In announcing this award, Principal Kelley said, “Louisa Beal is an outstanding student at Jonesport-Beals High School and will graduate at the top of the class in June. Louisa has been on the Honor Roll every quarter since entering J-BHS; and has received several academic awards and distinctions. She has excelled in the Jonesport-Beals sports program participating in volleyball, basketball, cheering, and softball. She received recognition in Volleyball as a DAC all-star, as well as, a Maine Senior Academic 1st team member. Louisa has participated in the school plays, the school recycling program, the Energy4ME camp, the mentoring program, and the school blood drive. She is very deserving of this honor.”

Louisa, Mr. Kelley and other award winners and their principals attended an Honors Luncheon at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor on Saturday, April 6, 2013, where she was presented with an award.

The Honors Luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler. Mr. McGowan and Mr. Tyler were former Maine principals and executive directors of the Association.

The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
