Each year during AmeriCorps Week service members across the nation gather to share their stories and celebrate their successes with current members and alums. The week provides a chance for members to reflect on their service and put the word out about AmeriCorps and their current service projects and programs. This year AmeriCorps Week took place from March 9th-17th.
Lincoln and Knox counties currently host twelve AmeriCorps members who serve in a wide variety of positions from educators, service learning leaders, community organizers, and youth mentors, just to name a few. Mid-Coast members represent AmeriCorps VISTA and AmeriCorps State and National programs including FoodCorps, Great Strides Rural Education Corps, and Island Fellows. Despite the diversity in job descriptions and titles, an underlying constant between each AmeriCorps member is their dedication to strengthen their Mid-Coast Maine community.
The Great Strides Rural Education Corps is an AmeriCorps program of Goodwill Industries of NNE and funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service.
