Lewiston, ME – Big things are happening in Lewiston when it comes to the environment. With the ML&W Enterprise on Goddard Road and Geiger on Mt. Hope Ave, the city is gaining 877 solar panels. These two businesses will be capturing their electricity from the sun.
ML& W Enterprise, a company founded in 1983 that rents, buys, sells and appraises real estate has just finished their installation of 181 solar panels on the roof of their building. ReVision Energy, based out of Portland designed and installed the system in July of 2017. This building is being rented by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development, committed to helping improve the economy and quality of life in rural America. The system will annually produce 62,700 kilowatt-hours of clean, renewable solar energy for the office building, this is about 80% of their annual electrical consumption.
Geiger, an advertising specialties company that is family-owned and family-managed also is in the process of going solar with ReVision Energy. Currently building a fixed ground mount array made up of 696 solar panels, Geiger will have the largest ground mount array in the Androscoggin county. This array will be generating 303,000 kilowatt-hours of solar energy and annually offsetting 319,700 pounds of CO2.
