ORRINGTON, Maine — — Light and Shield Ministries and Wives Behind the Badge will host a law enforcement marriage seminar to help provide guidance for law enforcement couples and families 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. May 17, at Calvary Chapel in Orrington. Tickets are $40 per couple and $20 per individual. Snacks and lunch will be provided for all attendees. Vacationland Inn in Brewer is providing discounted rooms to anyone attending the seminar.
This event is to help strengthen law enforcement families and come together to beat the statistics. 75 to 80% of LE marriages end in divorce. Being part of an LE marriage can be extremely difficult. The police officer has his/her identity and the wife/husband is left at home dealing with everything on his/her own. This leads to two separate worlds living in the same house. This seminar will also teach us how to bring those two different worlds together to be one.
The speakers for this special event include:
Kevin Benard- Light and Shield Ministries, and Philadelphia Police Officer
Ken Graves- Senior Pastor at Calvary Chapel Orrington, Maine
Author Kristi Nease and her husband Rick will be sharing their inspirational story about how the Lord has saved their marriage. Nease will also have her books on display for purchase.
Kristi Neace is founder of Badge of Hope Ministries. A popular speaker, author and blogger, Kristi has had the opportunity to address women of all ages, police wives and officers nationwide, and is passionate about teaching God’s Word when given the opportunity. She is the author of several books, most notably, Layers: Living a Life Unhindered; Lives Behind the Badge; Standing Courageous and Survival Guide for Police Wives.
Elishia Townsend, Maine Director of Wives Behind the Badge Inc., shares her deeply personal story about why this seminar can help all LE marriages:
“This Seminar means a lot to me personally. I have been married to my husband 13 years and all of those years we have been a Law Enforcement family. Within the last year or two I had found myself drifting away from my husband and our household was a war zone. But little did I know it had been that way for years. I always blamed my husband. I had built up so much resentment towards him because he was never home. I felt like a single parent, I had nobody to talk to, I felt alone. I was a ticking time bomb ready to go off at any minute.
And that’s what happened. And through all of that, AMAZING things have happened. I truly know that the Lord saved our marriage and we have finally been broken so we can use what we have gone through to help other LE families.”
