Down East Maine’s talented singers will be approaching the microphone soon for the 5TH Annual DownEast Idol Talent Contest and judging their performances will be Mindy Reynolds, Danielle Sullivan, and Kyle Stanley.
Reynolds is a SAD 37 district teacher and past winner of Downeast Idol. Stanley is also a past winner, and he will perform during intermission. Danielle Sullivan is the district music teacher.
The Milbridge Area Merchants Association is sponsoring the show and members are excited about these excellent choices for the 2013 DownEast Idol Talent Show judges.
The scholarship fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, March 9, at the Narraguagus High School. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the show begins at 6 p.m. Tickets are $5 person or $20 per family. 50-50 raffle tickets will be on sale.
There is still time for people to sign up as contestants. Forms are available at Camden National Bank in Milbridge, Bayside Shop n’ Save customer service, and also at 4-Corners Supermarket in Columbia.
Adult category is ages 15 and up, while the Youth category is 14 and under. Top three winners in each category will receive trophies, plus $100 First Place, $50 Second Place, and $25 Third Place.
Rehearsal will take place the evening before starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 8. Contestants may use an accompanying CD without vocals during their performance.
This is the fifth annual show, and the event has raised thousand of dollars in scholarship assistance for eligible students. The Milbridge Area Merchants Association is hoping for a good turn-out for a worthy cause. A quality education benefits the student and the community.
